20-Year-Old Kidnap Suspect Remanded In Correctional Facility
A 20-year-old Man identified as Sabiu Musa, suspected to be a Kidnapper has been ordered to be remanded in Correctional facility by the Katsina Senior Magistrates ’ Court for allegedly abducting an 80 -year-old man , identified as Alhaji Mani Abdullahi, at the Sabon Layi village in the Kurfi Local Government Area of the state.
The police told the court that Musa and his accomplices invaded Mani’ s house in the village with AK -47 rifles on September 3, 2019 , and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
The victim’ s son , Samaila Abdullahi, reported the incident at the Kurfi Divisional Police headquarters.
Samaila told the police that following his father’ s disappearance, the villagers organised a search party to ensure his rescue .
According to him, members of the search party traced the footsteps of the kidnappers, which led them to the house of Musa .
Musa allegedly confirmed that the footsteps were actually his own, leading to a strong suspicion that he was one of the kidnappers .
The suspect was charged with criminal conspiracy and kidnapping .
The police said the alleged offences were contrary to sections 97 and 274 of the Penal Code Law .
The police prosecutor , ASP Sani Ado , said investigation into the case was in progress and asked for an adjournment to enable the command to conclude the investigation.
The presiding magistrate at the Katsina Senior Magistrates ’ Court , where Musa was arraigned , Hajiya Fadile Dikko , ordered that the suspect be remanded in the custody of a correctional facility until November 7, 2019 , when the matter would come up for mention.
